Hi all,
L29#2 out of annual, passed with flying colours (colors ). couple of things to replace and fix.
1. nose wheel bearings and race. Does anyone know the Timkin bearing equivalent number? I had heard these bearings are the same as the Yak52's?
2. Firecock valve in the front pit is leaking N2 bigtime. does anyone have a source? has anyone tried to rebuild one? thoughts? comments? Dirty Jokes?
3. was looking for a solution to the canopy open light staying on, but just read that solution and will try it this weekend.
4. anyone have pictures or diagrams to build a tail stand? I borrowed one, and the fella is super gracious, but its a long day to go and get it and take it back.
and finally, source for fuel filters? The next jet goes in October and I'll need at least this.
thanks .

Take the bearing to NAPA. hey have them. Match the number on the bearing.

Always leak. Remove and plug the line. No more problems.

Dark Tape. Remove bulb and don’t forget to lock it. Half the airplanes didn’t have one.

Copy the one you borrowed.

thanks Dawg,
I need 2-4 filters (may as well save on shipping).
I'm not sure I want to remove and plug the fuel emerg stop system. I'll pull it this year and try and rebuild it.

Although OEM's are the best options, you can also have cheap aftermarket parts as references, if not ultimately options. Like this metal machining services for example, you can have them see what they can do for you, especially if they can machine a firecock valve in this case.
Hope this helps!

Just a side note: I can’t remember who had a leaky fire cock and I made the suggestion to just remove it. Well to further that discussion, not all L29’s had fire cocks. Some series did, some didn’t, Just as some L29’s had canopy unlock lights and some didn’t. So, machining a fire cock sounds expensive in which case I stick by my original suggestion. If you can’t find one, And if some aircraft where never built with one, plug it.
IMHO
