Does anyone know what coating, if any, is used for the Allegro fuel tank? It's red in color and appears to be a hard, epoxy-like coating.

The newer Allegro ( of which, yours is one) had a coating made by the Bill
Hirsch company. It is an Alcohol/Ethanol resistant gas tank sealer. Please
let me know if you need any additional information.
Thanks,

Hi Doug.
I have been looking into the tank liner made by Bill Hirsch. It appears that their liner is white in color. The inside of my tank is red. This leaves me unsure of what is/isn't in that fuel tank. Did my tank not get coated when it was built?
Thanks,
Bradley

Bradley,
Thank you for your note. ALL Allegro fuel tanks are coated, including
N456TS. I will go back to the records to check exactly which coating was
used. I can say that ALL our fuel tank coatings were resistant to ethanol
AND were fully capable of handling up to 10% ethanol fuel.
We are in process of sending out a service bulletin for non-ethanol fuels.
We have found that non-ethanol fuels are not regulated as to additives. In
some cases MEK is used as an additive. MEK, over time, CAN break down the
coating and attached the composites. The service bulletin will require
either NOT using non-ethanol fuels, or KNOWING there is no MEK used in the
additives.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Doug
