To those that have already done this, I seem to remember someone having a GPS measured triangular course that they flew, recorded the reading of their GPS and panel ASI and came up with a calibration factor. Is there a written procedure that they wish to share?
Also, other than swinging and recording the correction card numbers for the mag compass, any other calibration procedures that I am forgetting?
Getting closer.

| Mike,
Here

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the Excel spreadsheet, and Doug Gray's original article.
Hope this helps.

Mike,
Log on to EAA.org and type in airspeed calibration. A number of articles. With GPS there is no sense not using it. I've used this for years. No math, simple add and subtract.
I note the winds and temp from natl wx service weather. I fly a box. Into across downwind and cross.

Mike - I didn’t receive and can’t seem to find your original message (even using the Matronics search engine) so I am quoting it from another reply.
There was a folder of information about using GPS to determine TAS and compass errors included on the CD in the Europa Club new-member pack that I used to send out when I was MemSec. I’m not sure if those files had been incorporated at the time you would have had your pack, in Apr 2000. I am trying to get the files put up in the “calculations” section of the new Club website, but have to wait for someone with the appropriate access to do that.
In the meantime, you could have a look at:
https://www.ntps.edu/information/downloads.html
where several relevant files are available for download under the heading “Using GPS to Determine Pitot-Static Errors”.

Rowland,
Have you come across a version that allows calibration to the instrument (rather than to true airspeed, which then needs fiddling back to see what the instrument should have been reading relative to true airspeed)?

Duncan - first, apologies for having apparently ignored your request for so long. Google has suddenly started treating many of my incoming innocent messages as spam and I only just realised this (I normally check about once a month to make sure it hasn’t deleted any important stuff, but I will have to be ore diligent until it learns better habits).
Yes, the one that was on the Club CD included a result column showing CAS/RAS, based on the other data collected during the test flight.
Still trying to find out how to make a copy appear in the new Club website.
I think one of the references I quoted in my previous post on 14 Dec gave the formulae to get from TAS to RAS/CAS.
