Hello All,
The intercom and radio in our Yak-52 is a little quiet and hard to hear in the back seat of out Yak-52 even with the volume all the way up. It has been modified (like most I guess) to have the western GA type plugs but still retains the original SPU-9 intercom, Baklan radio etc. We have tried multiple headsets and they are all the same.
Is there an adjustment somewhere in the guts of the intercom I can tweak?
Many thanks
Chris

Try different combinations of the two toggle switches. It's been quite awhile since I played around with them, but if I remember correctly, both up or both down provided the best audio. But as I said, try the combinations of up and down and see if the audio improves.

Chris,
I see you stated you've tried different headsets. When I first started flying my Yak, my GIB had a really nice BOSE headset that (I'm guessing) affected the impedance of the system, because my intercom was marginal until she switched headsets - then it was loud and proud. We only stumbled on that by accident when she would not have her gear on hand for flying.
Mark Bitterlich (Yak 50 owner / pilot - usually monitoring the Yak-list) would be a rich & reliable source of info for all things electrical / radio.
Good luck!
