I also use a bore scope and a close eye inspection at annual. Also I have always given a gentle up and down shake to the horizontal stabilizer as part of every preflight.

I use a bore scope to get a good look. My brackets are painted so if a crack appears,
it should show by means of broken paint.
I do look now at every oil change.
Mine fit snug during assembly so I dont believe there is unintended stress.
I do keep my eye open for it though
