Anyone got the info on the BnC alternator conversion for the HS6 ? Installation / adaptor plate etc .. I’m having trouble bringing my standard gen on line at moment . It might be wiring but suspect the ZY -1500’might needs adjusting with a technical tap or clean. Any advice appreciated. The symptoms were it was coming online at around 1200 rpm as usual but after 5-10 mins of running at 2000 rpm was dropping offline. Repeated same characteristics over several flights but now offline permanently . No other breakers / switch’s misbehaving we can see. Any one had same thing ? Solution ? Thx Matt

I did the B&C alternator on stock CJ recently. B&C has all electrical components (alt, reg, wiring kit with most of what’s needed...depends on how much you have on hand. They are very patient and helpful, but don’t have direct experience with CJ...for better/worse I did share my CJ approach with them. Got mounting plate, gaskets and pinion from Coy’s.
I only removed gen, gen reg (mounted over your right foot on false firewall) and left as much else alone as possible. From B&C got a 35 amp fusible link (sold as current interrupter?) and holder with studs for ring terminals to bridge original wiring where original wiring was terminated at gen regulator. Link protects aircraft from overcurrent. If you reuse original wiring you’ll need 8 gage wire terminals.
I’m sure other listers have more elegant solutions and better gen trouble shooting, but this install was relatively simple and works for me.
Open to follow up if you want.
Cheers,
Rich
