Well, there's no way this owner is giving up his retractable gear. Although I have always thought that the way to go for a new Glasair would be to weld down the RG gear and fair them well. The main gear are outside of the prop blast so might have less drag that way.
Anyway, inspecting an RG has made me glad that we didn't build one. It's a very complicated system, lots of things to go wrong, harder to maintain, etc.
