Pretty impressed with the short field performance of the Nanchang.

Currently based at a 5,000ft airport but will move to a 2800ft 22ft wide airport.

So practicing to be precise .



Lenght wise wont be a problem, was getting off at the 1200ft taxiway,  but 22ft it is narrow so trying to minimize the flare.

Any tips on narrow strips are welcomed.(crosswinds will be very challenging so I will need to pick my days.)

I fly my YAK out of a narrow runway.  The runway disappears in the flare.

If you can't see the runway on either side you're pretty close to center.

If you can see the runway you need to fly toward it pronto!  From your video

it appears that you have a good centerline.  Pick a half and land on it.

Shack. Practice landing on 1/2 of the runway. You are going to have to do that for you FAST card anyway if you plan to pursue that. 

The CJ os a bit more of a kit than the YAK but the concepts of cross wind landings are the same. Fly the numbers. Avoid overbanking on base to short final to chase the runway at approach speeds. If it does not look good go around. Don’t try to correct a runway over shoot with increased bank and aft stick.

At altitude, induce base to final scenario stalls flaps up and flaps down, use that to decide if you put flap down abeam or lined up on short final on a tight pattern.  My preference in my CJ is short final...flap down I lose buffet feel in stick and secondary stalls are more likely in stall recovery than flap up.



Putting flap down only requires a quick adjustment as flap bangs down... and a CJ makes a dump truck look like a glider with aggressive slips flap down...slips that you’ve practiced at altitude to build the sight picture.
