I have been flying my Rotax 912 ULS for over 9 years here in Alabama where it is almost always hot. My coolant temperature has not initiated the warning light on my EIS. My coolant temperature sensor is in the line between the radiator and the water pump which means it is supposed to be the coolest temperature.
Recently after flying with all temps normal I taxi back to my hangar the coolant temp goes to 242 or above turning on the warning light on my EIS. If I go back up and fly easy for several minures the temperature returns to normal.
I am hoping that cooler ambient temperature will solve this problem as fall finally arrives.
Any ideas as to the cause?

Stan:
Make sure the temp sender has not failed or failing.
Also insure there is no air in the cooling system.

Wow! I always understood the coolant temperature to be the MAXIMUM not the minimum - you might want to get this checked out.
Most land based vehicles have coolant temperature sensor located in the head or thermostat housing - both high temp areas.
That your temperature reading went down when airborne - suggests reduced coolant available - check level and as JH said check for air in system.
