Fred, I would wait until you are “completely” finished with your build, you have completed your Appendix “E”, and have completed the official inspection. There may be something catastrophic found in either of the last two that could take you months to correct.
But, that’s just my opinion.

Builders in the US:
On the required “Experimental Amateur Built Aircraft” metal name plate, there is a line asking for the “Date of Mfg”.
Would that be the date of manufacture of the kit?…or the time frame of the “manufacture" of the work I’ve done assembling and finishing the kit?…or is the FAA looking for a completion-of-build date…?…
