Some time ago I’d assembled my throttle box with a temporary plain nut on the lever pivot to get things lined up and working. I’ve now got to the stage where I think it’s safe to fit the stiffnut (MS21042-4) on the pivot setscrew (EURO23). However, having done that and tightened it up so that the throttle lever does not slide up to full-throttle under the influence of the carb springs, as soon as I move the lever over its travel once or twice, the stiffnut starts to turn with the washers on that side of the lever and slackens off.
I thought perhaps the plastic washer isn’t slippery enough, so plan B, I loosened everything off enough to spread some grease on all faces of both plastic washers and tightened it up again. No improvement, the stiffnut still slackened off almost immediately.
Plan C was to fit a check-nut between the stiffnut and the washer and lock them together. Alas, no matter how hard I tried to jam those 2 nuts together, they slackened off in just the same way as before.
Now I’ve pretty much run out of ideas - can anyone help or suggest the blindingly obvious solution that I’m missing?
{The engineering solution would be to have a keyway on the setscrew and tabs on both the big metal washers to engage the keyway, this ensuring that no rotational movement gets transmitted to the stiffnut or the screw . . . but that calls for special parts that might be expensive!}

Pictures attached.
I glued the bolt into the throttle housing and made a couple of triangular plates that fitted snug into the bottom of the housing. The shape stops the plates rotating.
This stops any rotation of the bolt and no rotation is transmitted to the nut. The lever rotates between plastic washers, two either side of the lever.

Kelvin - thanks, that sounds easy to do and quite obvious once you think of it! Thanks also to William - your approach is substantial and clearly effective, but I think involves too much re-work for me!

I like your approach to the quadrant modification (although not sure how you are handling mud getting in there).
I finished making my throttle quadrant just to realize that it may not fit in the spline on top of the wheel tunnel. It may be too wide (not confirmed yet but almost sure it will be so just because lately I had to do everything twice  ). It seems a lot of things at this stage of the build where designed line-to-line with no clearances considered!
Anyway, chopping one side wall of the housing to make it narrower is being considered but I would probably close it off with a couple of layers of bid to seal it from the elements.
Did anyone experience this problem?

Only twice most of the time But boy do I hate doing anything again (I guess like everyone else).
I did remember you had a trigear but after I placed the post. Tri does have advantages.
When I got the kit the throttle housing was homemade (there was a plug with it). Nicely made I have to say. But I wonder how wide the molded version in the kit is? Well, the answer is easy: so it fits in the spline! (maybe) I tried to find a width in the classic manual since they do tell you to make it but lo and behold no width!
I have not confirmed the issue of not fitting but I think my housing is a bit wee too wide to fit in the spline. If so, I may end up opening the side of the housing to make it narrower, displace the cables to the side and close the opening. Tomorrow I will look into it and determine if I have the issue or not. Right now stuck at work so can't do much except write these postings and overthink stuff

The width of the throttle lever housing as per the Classic Manual is 40 mm (1.5”)
I just checked my Manual and like you I couldn’t find the width either. Knowing I had made mine from the manual instructions, I re-read them. The figure is not dimensioned on the drawing but in bold printing across the face of the drawing it says ......
