Hello all,
This is a question to composite experts: I have got a blister (sort of bubble under the composite skin) on the top surface of one flap. See pictures. This blister was already present when I purchased the aircraft back in 2001 but it has expanded over the years and I would like to do something about it.
What would be the best method to repair it?
Regards
Remi

Remi,
These are easy to repair, we've done it several times. Just drill small holes on opposite sides of the blister, then inject resin until the entire void is filled (resin comes out the opposite hole), clamp or weigh down the lifted glass skin and let it cure. A touch of paint over the drilled holes and you're done.
If you don't repair them, they will get larger, especially if you fly at high altitude.

Hi Jim and Heather,
Thank you for your quick answer. I suppose the resin gets out when the blister is pressed down, so how do you prevent the resin to spread all over the paint and stick to it?

Remi,
Use peel ply on the area. You may have to color sand afterwards too.

Thanks Jim, I will do the repair when hangar temperature and humidity allow.
