Well, the stars aligned with calm weather and a little free time, so I got the aileron counterweights positioned this evening on my Mark III. Still need to bolt and paint them, but the balancing bit is done at least.
Had time for a little high speed taxi practice on my new runway. It’s kinda bumpy, and not real flat, but I think it’ll do. It’s been more than fine for Quicksilvers in the past, so I’m thinking that the 582 with me (190lb) should work pretty well.
Now that taking flight is looking closer though, I find myself wishing for a little bit of experience in type. Anybody around NE Ohio (44618, KBJJ) that would be interested in giving me a ride in a somewhat similar Kolb? I know it’s supposed to still fly like an ultralight, not a Cessna, so that’s in my favor, but getting a little feel for the speeds and attitudes seems like a good idea.
Thanks!
Frank
