Guys: I installed a TruTrak Sorcerer ATI AP in a second RV10 I built in
2018 and flew it a year ago after with the Sorcerer in it. The Sorcerer
has not worked since installed in spite of three returns to Midcontinent
(TruTrak's--now Bendix King's) repair shop. They can't fix it. In fact
they tell me it works fine on the bench. I have on older Sorcerer ATI
(2012) in my first RV10 that works well in either RV10 whereas the newer
(blue colored display) ATI doesn't work in either RV10. Have any of you
had a similar experience? I would recommend not doing ANY business with
Bendix King after my lack of support from them. Doc N123CV & N784DC

Yes, I had an early Vizion and experienced something similar. Lucas insisted the unit was fine and that they hadn’t had any Vizion issues. He was also insistent that the AFS Arinc unit was the culprit.
In a casual conversation with Rob Hickman, he mentioned that the GTN650 has an Arinc test page in which you can see that data for each Arinc label.
The first test showed that I had Arinc data for all the labels except two. Try track was still insistent that they needed data from all the labels to function in the gpss mode.
With the assistance from Ken Chard (AFS), he deciphered the labels for me. The two labels that had all zeros were supposed to be all zeros. One for for the glide slope, which will never be active until you fly an approach.
With that data, I was able to convince Lucas to test the unit. It turned out that the Arinc receiver in the Vizion was bad.
It was quite frustrating when the vendor support assumes the problem isn’t theirs and performs minimal troubleshooting.
While this was different than you are experiencing, you may want to perform an Arinc rest of your navigator supports showing you the raw Arinc data.
If the unit is truly working, it could be a wiring issue or your Arinc adapter.
Good luck!
Bob

I have a TruTrak Vizion AP in my RV-10 and along the way upgrading the original Grand Rapids Horizon WS EFIS to the new synthetic vision Horizon EX, I discovered that to make the Vizion perform correctly, it not only needed the RS-232 GPS data stream, but also needed *both* ARINC 429 channels from the navigator (in my case, a Garmin GNS480). Here are the notes to myself that I wrote at that time, in case they might help somebody else:
"The original EFIS wiring diagram (as provided by GRT in 2007) used ARINC 1A and 1B outputs from the GNS480 to provide ILS/LOC/VOR guidance. ARINC 2A and 2B channels were routed from the GTX330 transponder to the EFIS to provide TIS-A traffic data. This had the effect that only RS232 GPS data (on Serial IN 5) was available at the EFIS and subsequently routed to the Autopilot. Although adequate for lateral autopilot guidance, this prevented the use of GPSS anticipatory steering commands being sent from the GNS480 through the EFIS to the autopilot. This also precluded automated autopilot vertical nav during precision GPS approaches.
Â
As part of the wiring redesign, ARINC 429 2A and 2B IN data was connected to the GNS480 ARINC 2A and 2B outputs (configured as GAMA 429 No FP, to complement the ILS/VOR/LOC outputs on ARINC 429 1A and 1B). The ARINC 2A and 2B connections to the EFIS from the GTX330ES were disconnected since traffic input is now available via ADS-B IN from the Stratux. This wiring enables automated precision vertical guidance to the autopilot for GPS LPV and LNAV+V approaches."
Anyway, since doing that the system has been flawless:Â senses and intercepts a localizer or ILS, and also senses and automatically flies an LPV or other GPS approach with vertical guidance.
If all this is gibberish to you and your system works great, consider yourself a lucky duck. : )
