Thanks for the advice about the anti chafe tape. Here's a photo of what I'm trying to say. That sure looks pokey into the fabric. I've even wondered about taking the rivet out, flattening the end, the re-riveting.

Jay it looks like that's a half rib and it's too far foward. If it were my wing I'd drill out the rivet at the nose and the ones at the spar and move it back to a point where your stright edge will not touch the tip of the rib. Fill the hole at the front with a rivet and drill a new hole but reuse the holes in the spar.

I fixed these this weekend. I drilled out all the rivets where the false ribs (both upper and lower) that stuck out. As you can see in the photo above, many of the ribs were bent up where the rivet was. After removing the existing rivets I took some padded pliers and bent that tip down. If the rib still stuck out too far I took material off but leaving plenty of edge distance then put a new rivet in. I got them all fixed and using a string across all the false ribs they were still the same profile they should be, ie none were sticking up too far nor below the others. It worked well.
