ops,
Found out that there will be a memorial flyover in honor of Dick Russell this month on the 29th at Spruce Creek (7FL6). I plan on attending. I hope we (RPA) can send a flight to participate. Dick Russell is a long-time Warbird guy in the T-34 Association. He was one of the early active members of that group and FAST. He, Geroge Baker, Bob Mahanor, and others in the T-34 group were instrumental in helping RPA get started and accepted into the warbird community. Dick was always pro RPA even when we were under the name of "Yak Pilot Club" (How many of you remember that?) Support from guys like Dick got early RPA spots in the airshows at OSH and S&F. From as early as 1994 Dick was one of the first to give encouragement, advice, and help to that "Redheaded step-child with the 'Commie airplanes" Because of his health, Dick has been out the seen the last few years but we did see him (along with his oxygen bottle) at Med's memorial fly-over last year. There are lots of fond memories with Dick. The best is over the radio -"You're not going to like this Bob." Dick Russell was a true aviator in every sense of the word.
