When checking security/adjustment of engine bay push/pull end link connections, my mechanic noticed the throttle "rocking arm" ball stud that the throttle cable attaches to was loose in the arm. The stud is pressed into the arm, and either through wear/tear or misadjusted limit stops, had loosened up over time.
My attention had always been more focused on the security of the push/pull "cable" end fitting, and movement of the stud it attaches to doesn't jump out. Given the consequences of a failure here, it's moved up on my list...
Cheers,
Rich
