Chris:
Thirty minutes on the K&N site showed the following:
Original 912/912S Air Filter is a lifetime K&N Filter Number 33-2564 (1989-1994 FORD (Fiesta, Fiesta III)
Air Filter Length (in.):7.75 in. Air Filter Width (in.):5.81 in. Air Filter Height (in.):1.13 in.
Substitute: K&N 33-2736 (Height:1.188(30 mm),Outside Length:7.781(198 mm),Width: 5.938(151 mm)
You will have to file or sand a bit as it appears slightly larger than the previous. Consequences of getting old.
The washable K&N 332564 will either be replaced by an alternate Ford Fiesta part or slightly widen your existing airbox and install the substitute 95/96 Ford Fiesta III part 33-2736.
While others may be looking at this thread, consider a water diverter for the 912S stock cowl to divert heavy rain entering your carb airbox while parked or build a complete water tight intake block as others have done.
I prefer a plane cover, but it is not convenient for most traveling cross country. This is a Band-Aid work around.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Bud Yerly

Hi All,
I have also looked into this and after ordering and paying for a K&N filter and being told that its out of stock! I looked for a replacement.
Green Filter, make air filters for performance vehicles as well as Ford Fiesta's.
They use a cloth as a filter material rather than gauze and are reputedly very durable.
I have only read good things about them so here is the model required for a Europa as it's not listed in their reference table! It may be a tad too wide according to the dimensions they provide and is a little less in height.
FORD FIESTA III 1,8L TD 77 57 RFL >94 PANEL 197 ββ 149 ββ ββ ββ 23 1 Reference Nr P360270

I'm not recommending this product but I am going to give it a try as the K&N model seems hard to find.
Cheers
John

Thanks Bud and John.
Apologies for not replying earlier. Thanksgiving morning I flew to a grass field nearby and when I went ahead to takeoff found that the engine was only developing 4000 RPM (relatively smoothly). Aborted takeoff and two days of troubleshooting later discovered that the diaphragm on the port carb was shot. Luckily found someone with a spare and was able to get back home safely yesterday. It was not easy to find the culprit and had some Rotax savvy friends baffled. A check with analog carb balance gages finally pointed to the root cause.
Itβs true that my engine sat in its crate after overhaul for three years and flown since March but never imagined it would need another carb overhaul so soon. Go figure as I was told this is rare. Crappy parts?
Anyway, drama resolved and thanks for the filter info. I will look into it today.
Best,
Chris
