I recently replaced the o-ring for the primer handle and it's not very smooth to pump. I read somewhere that someone lubed their o-ring prior to installation? Any recommendations?

You mean like EZ-Turn? A can of that is magic. Just the right stickiness to hold washers and bolts onto your fingers while you get your hand into the aircraft’s nether regions.

One more question. Any way to stop the fuel going to the primer? Last time the primer was apart, fuel as gushing out and made a big mess.

Shut the fuel off by pulling the red handle to OFF.

I also replaced primer o-ring and used EZ Lube. Goes up and down great. But I have fuel coming out of the top of the primer on my Nanchang.
