I am refitting my old voltage regulator after a failure of the bandc one I installed a year ago.  The bandc has built in ovp. I am assuming that this is a manufacturing defect ...i had a very early version.
I have ordered a new one.
Meantime i am refitting a rotax regulator and I am also refitting my old ovp/relay
The z 16 shows the ovp from master to ground at the panel.
Could I install the ovp at the relay end to ground at the firewall?
Thanks
Will

If you mean that you want to connect the over-voltage protection device to
the the other end of the same wire, then yes you can.
Another option is to connect the over-voltage protection device to the
downstream side of the 5 amp alternator breaker.

Take a look at the B&C current offering for
PM rectifier/regulators at:

The old regulators (including the last Rotax I saw)
are 3 decades old technology.
The AVC1 R/R has ov protection plus alternator control
relay built in. Everything in one box and 30 years
'younger'.
