Hi folks,
In two weeks I'm planning on leaving Sandy, Oregon (03S) and flying counter-clockwise around the continental U.S. I'd like to do it as close to the perimeter as possible. I'm flying an Aeroprakt with a Rotax 912ULS. I'd like to avoid towered airports, Defense Areas, and active MOAs. (I know; I'll have to call to find out it they're active..) AND I plan on flying as low as is safely possible. In other words, I'll be flying like a "fat ultralight" not like a spam can. I'll be camping under my wing most of the time.
Here's what SkyVector suggests for a route, (not stopping at each of these airports, but using them as waypoints.) When I look at much of Texas, the airports I've highlighted in red seem questionable because of towers, busy MOAs or being in a Defense Area.
Any suggestions from those of you who live/fly in these areas?
