I purchased a SS49E Board Mount Hall Effect / Magnetic Sensor to putter
around with. It looks like a small TO-92 transistor with 3 leads. To test it, I
used 3 AA batteries for power and measured the output voltage across a 2K
resistor. I placed a small magnet inside of 3/8" I.D. steel tube, then rotated
the steel tube around the SS49E sensor. The output voltage varied 1.9 volts
between 1.22VDC and 3.12VDC. I envision the SS49E being used to sense
the angular position of a control surface. Maybe someone will find a use for
this sensor in their aircraft project.
