My Europa finally flies again. After a long and painful process of painting the airplane it finally did three nice flights today. All went well.
Still need to paint the removable wing root fairings since they fit so poorly that I have to do something before I paint them. Also have the access covers and the outside door trim since they were painted a while back and don't match the current white. After 7 months of work I was just fed up and needed to fly it again. But those will be easy to take care of on bad flying weather days.

Thanks guys!
Pete, all products used come from a small company here in the US called Southern Polyurethanes (SPI). They really specialize on primers (their epoxy primer is fantastic) and clears. If you go to their forums (highly recommended if you want to learn a bit about painting) you will see they specialize on expensive car restorations and they do cater a bit to the experimental aircraft community.
The final result does look very good although I must say that these new paints and guns (so called "EPA Compliant") proved to be a huge challenge despite having done a bit of painting in the past. As the owner of SPI told me (yes, you get to talk to him) his compliant paints suck compared to the old days but they are better than the other ones out there and that the learning curve would be long and steep, he was not kidding But I can say I learned a lot (not that I am doing something like this again) and if anyone out there is interested I will share the good and bad of it.
By the time I painted the last part (cowling) I got good at it. I am particularly proud of the outcome of the cowling and access covers seam (pics). I hope it lasts.
Now my plan is to finish the small parts I still have to do (while enjoying flying) and go for some vinyl graphics.

WOW that looks beautiful! I'd be very proud of that paint job. I'm at that stage were I need to consider paint and would be interested in what path to take. It never even dawned on me that there is a new EPA techniques now...oh boy.
I had to do a double take on the N11EU as my Uncle owns N111EU.

Hello Chris, N11EU looks extraordinary! Don't see orange peel...very slick, it must cruise a little fast than before?
I wonder if it is still the lightest Europa XS in North America? BTW Chris never claimed this..I was the one who suggested N11EU was lightest XS Europa in North America, because I had never heard of a XS Europa under 800 lbs. until N11EU came out.
You have really brought out the beauty in her, I hope your wife isn't jealous.
What is the reason for removable wing fairing's? Mine are not removable I seal the slight gap with a thin weatherstrip.

Thanks for the compliments! I guess that if you spend 7 months working the finish something good should come out of it
As far as speed not sure if it’s faster. When I get the speed fairings back in I will do some checks to see. And for weight, I very much doubt it’s still under 800. It’s true what they say that as it gets older it gets fatter I have added quite a bit of junk in it since that first flight. I’ll let you know as soon as I find a set of scales to redo the W&B. My estimate is that now I am in the low 800s. We’ll see.
I choose to make the wing root fairings removable because I never quite liked the idea of not being able to see things such as the aileron QDs, wires, hoses, etc when the wings were on particularly as the airplane gets older. Matter of preference I guess. I worked on them this week and now fit nice. I can finally paint them.
BTW, one thing I did during the painting process is the cockpit widening mod. I’m happy I did. Feeling the door sill on my arm always bugged me and now I don’t. Improvement.
