James - in my conversations with Neville Eyre, he said that the clearance between spinner and cowl should be the thickness of 2 or 3 mixing sticks (about 3mm to 5mm). I have also heard from Andy Draper that the ideal clearance is 3mm.
I sounds as though your setup is fine already - I wonder why Airmaster would suggest a larger clearance than that recommended by the factory experts.
