I'm busy wiring a 24 v alternator on an IO 520...
What does the R connect to?

A quick Google search finds, maybe:
R for regulator, maybe it's voltage sense to the regulator.
F for field, implies externally regulated.
But so many alternator variations. Would be great to know more about yours, manufacturer, model number, age, external regulator...
