Hello List,
I was thinking of installing the transponder
antenna just forward of the F-704 on the passenger
side. Will a spinning prop or the tricycle landing
gear cause any problem with this location? Thanks JR
RV-7A...finishing touches on the electrical system.

On most Pipers, the factory location is about 1 foot behind the firewall in
the center. Your prop will not do alot of shadowing damage.
Just ensure to follow the guidelines for your transponder manufacturer...
Garmin says use low loss coax rg400 or rg142 and keep it under about 8 feet
or cable run... at the same time no closer than 3 feet straight line from
transponder to the antenna (linear distance traveling thru seats and floor
etc)..

A good place to mount it is just aft of the firewall between the exhaust
pipes, which puts it just to the left of the electric fuel pump. It will
work very well in that location.
