The last time I replaced an alternator on an AG5B Tiger was about 6
years ago. Well, I'm doing a FWF on a 92 Tiger. I took the engine off
about 3 months ago. Yesterday I installed the alternator. These
alternatos only have two wires on them. The alternator has a large
terminal lug (that's the easy one), and, there are two field terminals,
F1/F2. As I recall, on the last one I did, there was a little tag on
the alternaor having something to do with using or not using a jumper
between the F1 and F2. When I installed the alternator yesterday, I
put the field wire on F1.
The wiring diagram in the service manual is useless. The R&R of the
alternator says nothing about the terminals either.
Things have sure changed a lot since that service manual was written.
If I could have left the instructions for R&R of my new cowling as
vague as the instructions in the service manual, I could have had them
approved a year ago.
