Guys,

I've got a Zodiac 601 HD with Ray allen trim servos (elevator and
aileron). When I received the project, I noticed two long springs
located just behind the pilot/copilot seats- one was attached to the
aileron trim servo and the other was attached to an aluminum tab on the
left of the fuselage. The loose spring ends were clamped to the aileron
cables. The springs crossed each other in the middle of the the
fuselage so that one spring would oppose the other spring.

When the pilot actuated the aileron trim servo one spring would put
pressure on the aileron cable; therefore, the pilot would be able to
have aileron trim control. Does this make sense- I don't know if I
adequately described the system?

-Has anyone seen this kind of aileron trim setup on a 601?

-Does the 601 HD need aileron trim?

-Does anyone have finished pictures/diagrams of this aileron trim setup?

-Can anyone suggest a calibration method for this aileron trim setup?

Thanks much,

~Nick Helsper

Nick
That is very similar to the "bias spring trim" used by Van's on the RV7. Works great.
