Guys! Don't forget the Race to Ridgeland now scheduled for 12 May, 2006. Ch=
eck out our in-progress website at. www.racetoridgeland.com. Palmetto Fligh=
t was a huge hit last year--we are hoping Kahuna and his crowd we be there th=
is year too. Would be a great warm-up for the Ft. Jackson event AND you migh=
t just take a trophy home if you participate in the race and/or the spot land=
ing contest!!
Really hope to see as many of you there as possible!!

Last year Palmetto flight did two practice flights and another airshow
before performing at Ridgeland. It was a fun, but exhausting day. Hope
we can do just the race and airshow this time around. This is really a
fun event. I'm planning on it.

I hope to race this time as well.
I was approached for the KFDW event as well. Gotta try to make sure their date does not conflict as well.

To those interested in the race to Ridgeland, Rad and I did that last time. We needed to average 172kts without wind correction factor to "MEET" the handicapping. I now have been there and done that. Fun but i'd rather watch this time. By the way we were all beaten by a .....
Drum roll ......
1946 est. 4 seat WACO
They estimated their performance. A little under I suppose.

I did a "prototype" run for Lee on this before the "official" race. There were Glasairs and Grummans in the prototype run as well. We were surprisingly close!
I think this time it is going to be VERY DIFFICULT for the "spread" to be as wide. They will have had a year to get "real"/"official" data for just about every type of plane that is likely to be in the race. So, as they mention in the new website http://www.racetoridgeland.com , it will be hard to exceed the target numbers and the race is more likely to be determined by pilotage/skill.
I don't know if I will get to "race" or not but it was fun when it was run "unofficially".

Thanks for thinking of us Ben but I am practicing Formation today and Taking pictures of Larry Bowens 8 after. If you go to W95 Ocracoke airport Call Howard's Pub (great crabcake sandwich) they will send their Electric cart to get you and take you back. Stay for awhile and walk the town if you have not been before.
