bleeder screws

Looking for help,

I purchased am installing new matco wheels and brakes on my 601hd.  I have looked at various pics on the web and it seems some people have the bleeder screws on the top of the caliper, and some on the bottom. Which way is correct ?  Also can you use dot-5 slicon based brake fluid or must it be aviation brake fluid ?
