We certainly worried about installing steam gauges without shock-mounting,
but no shock-mounting was used in our panel. The instruments include
three gyros (an electric turn and bank, and vacuum artificial horizon and
directional gyro). We have had no trouble in 100 plus hours of operation
with a Rotax 912S engine. But, the engine has a slipper clutch. I think
this is necessary in the 100 HP version to reduce vibration during
start-up and shut-down. Ours is a tri-gear aircraft.
