I just made them up the other day from the dimensions on 6-K-1. Final trimming, 40mm sticking out of the bottom was saved to last. I kept the pipe perpendicular along the tank to make setup easier.

I don't have the prints with me but if you have more questions, just ask.

Ron ,I have checked 6-K-1 and have all the dimensions ,however I must be
missing something .I do not know where it ties into the tank .I do not have
room to tie into the filler neck .Does it tie into the top of the end or
does it tie into the top of the tank ,does it tie into a welded fitting
somewhere . Wade

I believe it doesn't really tie in anywhere. The upper end of the pipe has a
slight bevel to it and tucks into the upper corner of the tank. The
cross-section view of the tank shows this (poorly). I suspect the vent tube
may be tack welded to the wall of the tank in that upper corner.

I have mine out being welded. I will talk to the guy and see if he will allow pictures of the process. Tacking it to the top of the tank is something I didn't think about but will mention it to the weldor.

Wade
I modified a pair of long range tanks from ZAC. Gave me a chance to look inside. The vent tube is not attached at the top at all. It is beveled on the top end and is positioned with the end about a 1/4 inch from the top outboard corner of the tank. My modified tanks did not work out real well so I made a new set with carbon fiber. I am attaching a photo of one of my new tanks during construction. You can kind of see the vent tube location. The CF tanks have tested well but aren't flying yet.

Wade,
For the wing tanks, any high point in the tank will do. I put the vent
ends below the bottom wing surface by an inch. For the header tank, I
vented next to the incoming line near the top of the tank and routed a
tube to the right wing a few feet out and curved the tip hanging below
directly into the air stream to prevent siphoning and keep the fumes
from being close to the exhaust on the left side.

This is my experience making an -HD tank, but maybe you can use the idea.
I wrapped a piece of aluminum at the top of the tube, and riveted that piece with the tank's side.
See attached picture - I have higher resolution, (~700 KB). Let me know if interested and I'll send privately.

Thanks Larry ,I have received some good info per my request .I think I now
have it under control .I have been improving my Aluminum welding skills
,however while I was at a local sheet metal shop I saw some good Al welding
.The quality was much better than I could ever acquire .The owner of the
shop gave me a quote of $75.00 to $100.00 for welding both tanks including
the fittings and bead rolling . I have not got the tanks back yet ,hope the
shop can do this job at that price . Thanks again , Wade

Wade,

Sounds like a good price to me. I am being charged $160 per tank and think it's a bargain. I don't have the time to get as good as this guy already is.
