Greetings all,
Started building flaperons and thought I would pass along this building tip. Directions say before drilling the hinge angles to the spar to place the spar with temporarily clamped hinge angles up to wing to make sure the distance is correct between mounts. Directions for permanent mounting indicate the use of a 1/4 in AN washer on each side of the hinge angle. These washers are .060 thick. I clamped a piece of material .120 in thickness to the inside of one of the flaperon mounts to account for the thickness of the two washers. With out accommodating for the thickness of the washers tightening the bolt would displace the mounting arms the thickness of the two washers. Probably wouldn't amount to much movement but the more stress kept off from these mounting points the better.
Also like to wish all on the list a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
