Hi everyone,
We have a YAK-52 in our club which has developed an intercom problem. As soon us one switches the intercom on, the circuit breaker/switch cuts out.
Where is the intercom located in the YAK? Is it part of the radio?
Thanks

Karl,
The unit is located above the Russian Radio control panel on the right side of your instrument panel. I has two white knobs on it. It is held in the instrument panel by 4 screws. I do not have a schematic for the intercom. Maybe someone else on the list does. If you are kicking off the circuit breaker, it sounds like you have a short in the wiring harness which a whole lot of fun to chase down.

The box is located behind the front seat, under the center section between the cockpits on the left side (looking from the rear cockpit forward). It has a large cannon plug on it.

The control panel is remote from the actual intercom unit itself.

- A problem that I hope someone can help me to rectify before going up again . . . My CJ has a hot-mic and an M14 engine. I don't know if it's my high-pitch female voice, the new headsets, or operator error, but ever since I've acquired the aircraft, I have problems with my transmissions cutting out intermittently while I'm speaking on the intercom. I don't know if it's doing the same with ATC or not. Any ideas on this? (I've tried adjusting the squelch. Maybe I just need to try harder, but it's really aggravating to me as well as the poor soul sitting in back.)

Thanks,
-Val

What kind of headset/mic and intercom? You might want to try the old headset and try your new headset in the back seat. Can you hear it when your transmission cuts out or is the gib telling you this?

Val,
Are you using active noise canceling headsets?
