A California painter sprays on non-slip wing-walks. The neat part of
these is that they can be the same color as the aircraft, as opposed to
the black rubber stick-ons that Van's sells. Does anybody have an idea
of the formulation of these wing-walks?

Same color as the wing sounds good but a contrasting color is easier to see
and
avoid stepping on an area that should not be stepped on.

For non-skid decks on boats way back when, crushed walnut shells were
sometimes added to the paint. There may be modern-day substitutes, but I
would be a little concerned if the paint is light colored. It would seem to
me that this non-skid works like a doormat and would show dirt unless it's
about the color of the dirt.

A different point of view is that the wing walk should stand out from
the wing so that exiting passengers will only step on the black wing walk
If the wing walk is same color as wing it should have a colored (red)
outline.

Not after-the-fact stuff, but if you haven't painted yet, this worked well for me and has held up nicely for almost 2 years so far:

Mark, did you brush-on or spray the Gatorhide? I see they've now changed the name to Seal Krete? I like your idea of making the wing walk smaller so that it can be covered by Van's rubber walks if needed.

The one done by the California painter was somewhat raised and looked a bit different from the rest of the wing so a passenger should have no problem with stepping on it.

The Gatorhide was mixed into a small batch of clearcoat, kinda guessing at the amount. We did this soon after the first clearcoat cured and the wingwalk area masked off, then applied with a small roller.  Rolling first in one direction, then at 90 degrees to the first. Masking removed as soon as done with the rolling. Came out very even.  Holler at me if you need more info...

Has anyone used the clear wing walk or night glow wing
walk from ACS?
