I've got a wooden propeller (probably the original prop). It looks like I'm going to have to replace this. Any recommendations as to a good replacement? Is Spruce the place to buy one? Thx.

Mr. Murphy:
What engine/gearbox are you running?
I put my firestar KXP thru its paces this last weekend using my new WAAS enabled GPS. Top speed 86mph(at)4000msl. Climbed 1110ft in one minute at 50mph. My 503 has a 66" two-blade IVO on a 2.58 "B" box. It is a smooth, efficient prop. I have never mounted anything else on my plane so 386hrs is the limit of my IVO experience.
Surprisingly, Spruce has not given me good customer service of late. They sent me screw top B8ES plugs and haven't replied to my e-mails. The order before that they substituted a completely different fuel filter than was shown online and in the catalog. Twice bitten, thrice shy.....

I really like the Powerfin prop I have. Very light and doesn't flex much. I would buy another one in a second.

I bought my Prop ( 66" IVO ) from L.E.A.F.
I have a 503 w/ 2.58 B box , 3 blade 66" IVO....
I might try it with 2 blades next season....test it.

I'm thinking you'll like it much better as a 2 blade.

I switched from a 3 blade 63" IVO to a 68" 2 blade IVO several years ago. The cruise speed did not change, nor did the top speed, but it gets off the ground quicker, even carrying 60 more pounds. The other difference is that the 2 blade has more vibration, but has a lower tone that I find easier on my ears. To keep the 68" quiet, the engine needed to be raised and inch. A 66" two blade would be a good choice. If it is a Firestar II, the spacer is needed, for any prop. Just my opinion.
