I wonder if anyone on the list saved that YAK-52 electrical schematic that was floating around some months back? My YAK-50 has some electrical problems (again) that are turning out to be less than fun.

I found some wires that were shorting out when the Voltage Regulator moved in it's shock mount.... All YAK owners note... this is apparently very common and we all should pop the regulator out of it's month and check for wife chaffing. Mine were, fixed same. \

Also found various wires rubbing through to bare metal in the nose compartment (50 only).

The generator is putting out 28 volts at rated RPM (I have not checked it under load yet), but the Generator light is on constantly and I have no current flow from the generator into the main bus.

There are some relays in there that operate with comparison of battery to Generator voltages, and so forth, and I am hoping that the 50 is close enough to the 52 in this regard to use their schematics. This is going to end up being a contact by wire by contact by wire tracing job I am sure.

That said, I could sure use 52 electrical schematics if someone could be so kind.

Thanks for any and all efforts,

p.s. I am tempted to just pull all that happy horse manure out of there and just install a B&C, but $$$$$$.

I’m considering the B&C alternator too, since having also a lot of noise (already did Dennis’ plug conversion, which works great by the way. So this radio noise does not come from the plug wires). The Voltage Regulator in my YK50 does not work very well either. It seems that during the overhaul in Russia in 2001 a lot of 52 wiring has been done in my plane (this implies a bunch of cables that are only partly used).

Good luck Mark!
