Listers and Lurkers,
Like many, I purchased the ZAC-supplied clunker. Not one, but TWO. Boy was that a mistake!
To make a short story shorter, I bought a PRG510 made by Emhart (firm which makes the POP brand, and other, rivets).
A REAL regulator (not just a pinch-off needle valve) and this gun, makes riveting easy, smooth, etc.
If you've ever welded with a "cracker box" welder, then used a smooth DC machine, you'll know what difference there was in that deal.
Same with the PRG510. The trigger is "variable"......you can pull a rivet as slowly as you wish. It is not a snap-action process leaving smiley faces, dents, screwed-up crooked rivets, etc.
They ain't cheap, but it is a darned good piece of equipment. The Emhart web site has pdf's showing parts; and you can get repair work.....not that you'll need it.
Try getting replacement parts for those twenty-dollar items from Harold's Frate & Hamburgers.
One other comment....a "burr" will deform/hollow-out the Emhart nosepiece same as those supplied by ZAC.
If you purchase one of these, look over the pdf's first; get all the nose pieces & extras to drill out on the same order. Comes with a short "whip" hose, you supply quick-connect to air line.
Don't own stock in Emhart.
Regards to all,

I have a regulator at my airdyer and one at the gun, real regulators and
it makes pulling very smooth with no recoil.

I too had problems with the ZAC riveter. Bought a second one because there just "had to be something wrong with that thing." Second riveter didn't help. Then I bought a real air pressure regulator and all my problems went away. Now I have very little recoil, no smileys and a riveter for both sizes of rivets. I even got really lazy and bought a second regulator so I don't have to readjust when I change rivet sizes.
