<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> On my Model II the false ribs are lower than the main ribs to the front of the spar. Hopes this helps Jerry.

I sanded my false ribs even with the main ribs. Over the fuel tanks,
I epoxied false ribs made of 1/8" wide spruce, and sanded them even
with the main ribs as well.

Is the false ribs suppose to be level with the ribs all the way to
the front spar? Mine seem to be about 1/8 inch higher. Should I
sand to be level with the ribs before I cover the wing?

Jerry,
The wing designer will arrive at an airfoil shape to obtain the desired
flight characteristics. With our fabirc wings the fabric sags betweent the
ribs which essentially modifies the airfoil of the wings. The false ribs
restores the design airfoil to an extent. Other designs (Rans) will use
aluminum or thin plywood between the ribs at the leading edge to more
exactly get the design profile. Trimming them to the profile of the rib will
give you the closest to the design.
