As I am sure other people will point out, this aeroplane is either Yak-53 or a 52 converted to single seater.
The 53 was conceived as high performance long-life aerobatic aircraft, but always as a middle step between 52 and 50, but without the short 'lifetime' of the 50.
It is obviously lighter than the 52, lacking front cockpit; front controls etc and indeed a second occupant, but still significantly heavier than a 50 with tricycle gear etc.
Yakovlev only built three 53's, but I know of at least two 52's that have been converted to become 53's.
Interestingly Yakovlev put quite a lot of effort into a ground - attack version of the 52 for use in Afghanistan when the "rebels" started proving quite successful with heat-seeking missiles, against Su-25's. However this version never saw service.
