Just wondering if there is actually any one out there who will admit to
having a big problem with reading the little bit of code that is in some of
the posts? If I had a big problem with it I wouldn't let on.

I have a problem with it and don't mind admitting it. I also have a problem
with you submitting post after post aft post on every subject matter that
hits the list. Look at what you just posted, it says nothing, provided no
useful information and is about to drive me away. This Kitfox email list
has gone to crap. As I've said before, it has turned into a cheap CHAT
channel. Why can't you and a few others just report fact and leave the CHAT
crap on the side. As you can tell, I'm Pissed and the Admin folks need to
start pulling the plug on some members.

Im am putting myself on the hatchet block. Where in the heck is everyones
HUMOR . Is life so damn shitty for some of you to not realize that a little
humor goes a long way . and if you do not really like what others have to
say then use the darn delete button . I do believe this country is founded
on letting people say what we want even if we agree to disagree. and letting
the other party know what we think about there opinions . THIS IS CALLED
FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
I do not believe anyone should be banned or whupped up on to bad including
Steve<the controversy continues about E/SLA weight limits lol . or ME heck
I complain about alot of things . Or even DAVE the Crazy Canadian who makes
us laugh with his Vid's . Come on guys lighten up and enjoy life . Cant we
all agree to disagree and heck lets all drink to this one . If the moderator
or someone else want's to ban me from postin to this list then so be it .
Just remember that any info pertinent or not is valuable to someone . And
one day you may be looking for that info .
So take a chill drink a few brews and relax get laid or something to loosen
up and get over it .

I love the list and the info provided but damn the humor is lacking and with
all the crap we have to deal with in our society where else can some of us
guys go that fly Avids and Kitfoxes or who cares what else kind of machine ,
and enjoy it and be able to laugh at our mistakes and to learn at the same
time .

Nuff said Here I hope I'm still on here tomorrow

Leni,
I'll second that. Certain people with certain personalities can just
get pissed at the least little old thing. I say "don't sweat the small
stuff" have you not watched the news lately or picked up a newspaper. If you
read something you don't like or agree with, do what I do, highlight and hit
shift+delete. OK I'll shut up now.

I am a bit confused here. It seems quite OK for the chatty ones to do and
say what they want in the list and almost demand to be respected for it but
it is quite NOT OK for others to do and say what they expect with the list.
And this despite the fact that their comments are well within the intents of
the list guidelines.

I received a note last evening from a long time member and valuable
contributor. The essence of his post was that it has been successful for a
long time and why risk the continued success with a new list direction.

There have been a couple of rebellions in the past that I am aware of where
a new list was started more in keeping with what some thought a forum should
be. The Lazair Kitfox forum was the latest. It disappeared last Summer I
presume, according to their web page. None have lasted more than a couple of
years.

I would certainly hope that a bit more respect could be shown to some of the
veterans when all they are doing is expressing opinions. Why is it OK for
one faction to become "P**** and the other side it is some sort of age
related dementia. In fact I can't remember a single incidence of irritation
from one of the senior members of the list being punctuated by gutter talk.

"Respect is the objective, unbiased consideration and regard for the rights, values, beliefs and property of all people. Kant's categorical imperative as well as what is commonly understood of being a gentleman incorporate the concept of respect."

Don't confuse respect due with a superiority complex.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superiority_complex

"Behaviors related to this mechanism may include an exaggeratedly positive opinion of one’s worth and abilities, unrealistically high expectations in goals and achievements for oneself and others, vanity, extravagant style in dressing (with intention of drawing attention), pride, sentimentalism and affected exaltation, snobbism, a tendency to discredit other’s opinions, forcefulness aimed at dominating those considered as weaker or less important, credulity, and others."

hmmm.. You may be partially correct.. and while SOMEONE may not have posted it on the "list" they were not bashfull about sending out a kick in the nutts email moaning about how the list has been taken over by KF "Flyers" and not "Builders".

Well what the heck.. I will give it a shot.. Give me a few days and
www.avidfoxflyers.com will be up and running.

I still plan on reading this forum everyday, but I will try to limit my posts on this site so the all knowing superduper way darn smarter than me wont have to take a nitro pill.

If you want to be able to have a life and "chat away" drop by the "other site"

Deke.. dont break your arm patting yourself on the back for running off another one...

Any time you have 500 people participating in a group activity, such
as discussing Kitfox and Avid aircraft, you will have differences in
opinion. More fundamentally, you will also have different thoughts
on what the purpose of the group is, too.

Is this list a chat room? Is it a technical forum for aircraft
builders? Is it social hour for people who have no other friends?
It's all of the above and more. Do the various members have
different needs? Different technical abilities? Different means of
connecting to the group? Absolutely.

To make a group like this successful for as long as it has been in
existence requires a little effort on the part of its members.
Presumably, we are all here because we enjoy communicating with the
group. Is it so difficult to show a little consideration for the
other people on the list?

It's not much trouble to make sure your subject line has something to
do with your comments. It's not much trouble to add something like
"fluff" to a subject line to warn those with more technical tastes
that they can skip that message. It's not much trouble to keep your
attachments to a reasonable size since not everyone has broadband
internet access. It's not too much trouble to add "d* not archive"
to a message that has no relevance to future readers. It's not much
trouble to send text-only messages so that everyone can read them.

This isn't about freedom of speech. We are all guests here at the
pleasure of the list management. Nobody here has any rights here
except for Matt Dralle who owns the list servers. It's about acting
like civilized human beings. It's about cutting the other guy a
little slack.

It's about realizing that you're not the only one on the list.

I wouldn't worry about it Lowell. I was taken to task for some minor thing a
few months back. I don't recall by who, I sure he does. He said he was
enforcing the "rules" and was a friend of Deke's and he was quite upset when
I was unimpressed. It only took a minute to discover that he was not above
participating in off topic "chatter" and neither is the current complainant
as a short search in the archives will discover.
The best thing to do is ignore it, try to respect the rules without going
nuts about it and try to help each other. Trying to force other people to
think the way you want them to is a stupid endeavor.

Do not archive

Lowell,

I think that alot should not revolve around on who is a senoir member or
whatever. You have condoned me for making hundreds of posts in the past
and I just shrug it off.

But we must all go with the times and use each other's help to help each
other out. I feel that I have in the past gon out of my way to help out
others as well. This is a information sharing list,. forum or whatever ?
If you think otherwise please let us know.

There is life east of the rockies you know and pilots with over 25000 hours
as well .

Everyone has opinions and some have a vested interest but we all fly
Kitfoxes and that is the keyword "KITFOX "

Oh, this is too good to pass up. I have to post a reply to this!

I once flamed Deke online, emailed everybody on the list, started an
enormous flame war, started a new list and recruited a ton of list
members to the new group. Left, resigned never to come back.

Why did I come back ..?

Since then I have got married, had kids, now I deal with two kids both
less than four years old, and a wife who's often grumpy from keeping
the kids in line. The most sleep I've had in the past almost 4 years is
about almost 6 hours. List stuff, is simply not a big deal in my life.

Also, I decided I didn't really hate "(names witheld)" so much after all.

This list is a refreshing breath of fresh air in my day! Smile

The worst of the worst of the worst online, can't you just simply click
delete? (here, I'll post a new quote - "Morons can't click delete")

Even if you start a new, and successfull list elsewhere, it is merely a
matter of time, until you - become the list oldtimer over there, with
your own grumpy, and elitist attitude who the newbies on the list
are flaming as a no-it-all. Smile

I know, I've done that myself. That's why I'm staying here.

Regards,
Jeff Hays

BIG PROBLEMO? No, but it takes a lot of concentration (time) to figure out
exactly what you are trying to say. After reading the "give and take" on
some of the issues, "exactly" is a big deal and time is a precious comodity
for some of us.
You might want to consider the concept of "first impressions" in the quality
of communications. If something of importance is being said, how it is said
can be just as important to the receiver of the message relating to its
perceived value and its source. The natural tendency of a human being is to
think "if it looks like garbage, it probably is garbage." There is an old
saying in the computer industry, "garbage in-garbage out." There is another
saying in aircraft maintenance, "if it looks good (i.e. welds, machined
parts, etc.), it probably is good." The opposite is true also. If I apply
the above to communications about technical issues through the email, then
if the message looks like garbage it could very well be garbage and/or the
source of it is a producer of garbage. So why should I waste my time trying
to read it? If it is considered important enough by the sender to
communicate with us, please make it look like it is important enough to
read. If the fix, is simple, why not fix it?

My point-- if the message is difficult to read because a computer program
changes the typed figure/letters into another form and then the message
literally looks like the message sender had his fingers on the wrong keys,
then the first impression is that the message is garbage or at least not
quickly deciphered or maybe not worth the effort to decipher. If the sender
has a quick fix available, why not use it?

You also have the option to go to the original site of the post and read it in plain language, exactly as posted. The poster is not sending you e-mail, the server is. If that facility is not capable of sending accurate copies, why do YOU use it .(e-mail) ..and why do you rag on the original writer?
I repeat...the writer\poster is not sending it to your personal e-mail box. Get it?? Duh...?
You still didn't explain your crude, rude and statement.....

"if the message looks like garbage it could very well be garbage and/or the
source of it is a producer of garbage."

You imply the writer is garbage.

You are the one that doesn't get it, Steve. Every time an e-mail is
sent to the list server OR a message is posted on the web site, you
are absolutely sending an e-mail to the personal e-mail box of every
member of this list. You have no more right to demand that readers
use the web site than they have to demand that you use only e-mail.

It is this in-your-face attitude that keeps getting you thrown off
this list. Why do you insist on treating others as though they are
idiots? If the poster were standing in front of you would you speak
to him that way? You complain about others being rude, yet your
behavior is by far the most egregious.
