Terry,

Would it be OK for those of us who are "between" Kolbs to fly in on a cycle?

Dave,

Most definitely! Or any other means of transportation available to you.
You don't have to fly in to be welcome, just a fan of Homer's and his
creations!

I flew from Homer's to Wellsville, then on west to that UL strip out
near Johnstown in Jun 1993. Was a beautiful flight all the way out
and back. IIRC plenty forced landing areas if needed.

I did stop at one airport, can not remember the name, between
Wellsville and Homer's for fuel but the FBO was closed, late Sunday
evening.

John,

Could that airport have been Smoketown? Smoketown is a couple of miles
east of Lancaster, PA and about half way between Homer's and
Wellsville. That's where us locals do our staging to fly to Homer's
each time we do a fly-in there. One of the nicest small airports you
will ever fly into and UL friendly!

Terry:

Could very well have been. I remember flying just south of Lancaster
on a direct line to Homer's. Seems like the old FBO was very near the
road that went past the airport.

The mkIII was powered by a 582 and sucking fuel. That is why I was
flying at 3,000 AGL. The last two gals in the tank were below the
sight gauge bottom level and I did not know when it would take the
last gasp before dying.

Terry,

I would like to overnight at Smoketown for the gathering at Homer's. It's a great airport three resturants within walking distance and plenty of Kolb owners nearby!!

Steven

Let me know if this sounds interesting and I will speak to the owner of the airport about you staying there. He's a real nice guy!

Steve,

I know that won't be a problem! As we get closer to the date, I will take a poll and see how many are coming for Clara and Homer to be able to plan and how many might like to stay over at Smoketown. I know that some of us will probably camp out at Shreveport North's UL Fly-in Saturday night after our visit to Homer's.
You might want to consider joining us there.

For me, trailering to Smoketown and flying from there to Homer's sounds
like the most practical plan... perhaps flying over to Shreveport and back
on Sunday before heading home.

Depending, of course, on whether I can get away that weekend at all (and if
I have a flyable US, a roadable trailer, and a truck to pull it, none of
which are true at the moment...)
