Thanks for the informative posting.
I have removed light corrosion marks and scratches with scotchbrite myself.
Just one word of advice: you might not need hands and eyes protection, but I suggest some sort of
dust mask, specially if you are going to use scotchbrite on a power tool.
A thin, green dust (or whatever color you are using) will be created and get into your airways -
it can't be good. I learned about it when I blew my nose after a session of "scotchbriting"...
