Morning Folks:
Sun and Fun 2007 NOTAM is 36 pages long. Of all these pages only one
paragraph is necessary to get us ULs and Lt Planes into the UL strip:
April 17-23, 2007 Sun'n Fun Fly-In
ULTRALIGHT ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
? All arriving and departing ultralight vehicles shall enter and exit
from the south-southwest of
the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport and shall remain below 500 feet
AGL, remaining west of
the large airport buildings.
? Be alert for helicopters arriving and departing at the same
altitudes just to the east of the area
reserved for ultralight operations.
? Radio equipped arriving aircraft monitor 119.25 until north of the
east/west road on the south
airport boundary.
NORDO ultralight aircraft desiring to land at the ultralight grass
strip prior to April 15, 2007, must
pre-coordinate arrival information with the Lakeland Air Traffic
Manager at (863) 648-3305.
We are also the only aircraft authorized to land at LAL NORDO (no
radio).
Back to work. Still got lexan to do before I get the fuselage out of
the "mole hole" (basement).
Times a flying and I need to fly too.

Hey Joihn H and everyone else that's flying into the Light Plane grass strip,
As usual, I have to keep John H straight. The arrival procedure John H quoted is correct, except a couple of sentences earlier in the NOTAM have to be read first.
"Special procedures will be in effect ONLY from 0700 to 2000 local from April 15 through April 23, 2007."
"SOUTH SIDE OF AIRPORT CLOSED FROM SUNSET UNTIL SUNRISE LOCAL
APRIL 15 - APRIL 23, 2007."
"Lakeland Linder Regional Airport will be closed daily, April 17 through April 23, 2007 during the Aerobatic Demonstrations (schedule below). Arrivals and departures are not permitted during periods of aerobatic demonstrations. "
Now we are current and ready to fly to Sun'nFun 2007!

john w/gang:
I know, I know. I read the entire 36 pages, and expect everyone else to read them whether they are flying in or not.
You mentioned aerial aerobatic demonstrations when the field will be closed, but failed to post the schedule. How do you expect me to find a window to get into the UL strip all the way from Alabama without that schedule?
Up to my ears in lexan. Everything is cut out and getting ready for the final fit and trim before popping rivets and attaching rubber channel.
This airplane building and updating is a work intensive operation. I am ready to go fly and play.

On my only trip to SnF by air a few years ago I had flown 8 hours and arrived from the SW only to see all powered parachutes in the air only. I held a few miles out for 45 minutes (the last thing that I wanted to do was fly around). But the sun was going down so I headed in in between the chutes. I landed and got cussed out by the Quadrunner Runway Nazi. I told him the chute flight window was not in the NOTAM and he said that it was
He did not have time to show me his copy...

See you there...
