I agree with you, Guy, but my point was: It is better to talk with a bad technique than risk an accident/incident. I know of too many examples of both aviation and maritime communications where ill fates could had been avoided if the person in command had communicated at an earlier stage. I think that Noel, who shares my maritime and ham experience, agrees with that.
