Has anyone out there replaced or originally install a pitot/static tube instead of the original one supplied by Skystar? Also, what would be the best way to install my speedster wing tips so I could easily remove them—nut plates or anchor nuts a good idea? What are Pk screws? Ref e-mail on wings and speedster, my classic model 4 speedster does not have any elevator trim at all. Wish it did, not an option. -- Leon

I used the pitot tube from Spruce...p/n 15135...the L-shaped
one...works fine. I had to glue a wider piece of wood under the
capstrip in order for the mounting screws to have something to bite
into.
I installed my wingtips with two-lug anchor nuts, flat head machine
screws and tinnerman washers...8-32's as I recall...10 screws on top,
and 10 on the bottom.

I love it, although I'm having some minor problems that nobody else
seems to be having. Search the archives for the last 7-10 days on the
Matronics JabiruEngine-List for the details.
I especially like the simple, no coolant, no prop adjustment, slow-
turning, direct-drive, single carb, features of the Jabiru. It might
come up a bit short on power, but for flying and building simplicity,
you can't beat it.

I used a static/pitot tube from Sprue. Seems to work fine.

Pk screws are the coarse thread sheet metal screws they sometimes use in duct work. Some guys use them to hold the inspection plates in the floors or their Cessnas. There are tinnerman nuts that give a pretty good hold with PK screws. I wouldn't consider structural use for them. Go with anchor nuts or tinnerman nuts with structural screws for the wing tips. What would you say if you saw one or your wingtips deplane before coming to a complete stop in front of the hangar??...at 5000'agl???
