Folks:
For those of you who are worried about strength (everyone) and corrosion resistance (not me, I live in Arizona!), here is an excerpt direct from Grove describing their metal:

Standard Finish—All Grove landing gear are hand finished to remove any blemishes, scratches, and dents that may have occurred during the machining and heat treating processes. Our landing gear is manufactured from 7075-T6 aluminum which provides superior strength but also requires corrosion protection. The most common method is to apply epoxy primer to the entire gear and then finish with a suitable top coat. If you choose to polish your gear, you should be sure to prime the unexposed areas and to maintain a protective coating of wax on the polished surfaces.

FWIW, I do plan to prime and paint the center section and areas inside the intersection fairings and wheel spats, while polishing (and waxing) the legs. Effectively, there are no "unexposed" areas on the TD gear. It's all outside the fuselage. That also means it is very easy to inspect.
