Hey Kurt, when you ran your line back and over the rear spar near the rib, did you drill a hole in the #1 rib to run the line thru before going into the cabin? Not drilling holes in the spar tube sounds good to me. Thanks---Leon Morris/Classic4(1994)/50%/Flower Mound,TX

Hi Leon,
Yes, I recommend tying the tubes to the spar with
stitching line. I used nylon ties, but understand
that they deteriorate faster than the stitching line.
Tie the tubes well well so they don't wiggle loose
over the years and start flopping in your wing.
Then I drilled a hole in the web of #1 rib close
behind the spar, but out of the epoxy. You need to
look closely at the wing when folded to pick a good
spot for it to line up with your entry point to the
fuselage. Then you also need to add a small plywood
support to the inside of that last rib flush with the
cap strip edges, or the fabric covering the rib will
be pulled and torn by the line as you fold and spread.
You need to leave some slack not tied off so that the
line can move in and out of the wing a few inches as
you fold and spread, since the tube is not on the
hinge line.
I wonder now if you could mount the pitot/static tubes
out near the tip and run the tubes in thru the end of
the spar instead of drilling? It would still be a
good idea to run them thru a protective thin walled
tubing along with your wires to your lights so noting
wears on the spar rivets, etc.
Just an alternate idea....
