I have not been able to find the WD1014C part in my kit. This is the aileron torque tube that's at the wing root. Is this part supposed to be powder coated? Is it longer than needed? I do have one steel tube in my kit thats not powder coated and longer than needed but it is the right diameter. I am thinking that maybe the parts are cut from this one. Does anyone remember?

Thanks
Niko

I think that's the part you want. If you look
at photos of other's build, you'll see powder coated
parts but then the connecting rod isn't. I think I primed
mine.

I can not remember for sure. But, I thought all the powder coated items had a part number with a “PC”. So I don’t think WD1014C is a powder coated part.

Niko,

Yes the unpainted tube is the tube used for the aileron torque tube.

You simply have to cut it in half and then prime it. The adjustment for length happens when you drill the bolt holes after measuring the overall length of the assembly.

That’s the one. Just cut it in half, if I remember right. It is definitely not powder coated, as mentioned in another response. You will want to prime it inside and out. The length, as I remember, is not super critical (meaning it doesn’t matter if it is a little too long). In fact, I don’t even remember seeing the length in the plans. They just give you the length of the overall assembly, so if the tube is longer than it “needs” to be, it will just ride further in one of the ends.

Yeah, I scratched my head on this part also before I figured it out. See here:

It come as one tube and you have to cut it in half.
