Hi Group. If there is anyone here with experience on EA81 prop selection, I would be most grateful for your input.

The aircraft is a Zenith 701 (under construction)

The engine is a Subaru EA81T with fuel injection but minus turbo. With mods (intake, cam etc) should produce about 95+hp.
Max revs should be about 5600

The engine was originally in a Gyro (rebuilt now) and had a 72” Warp Drive 3 blade on a modified hub giving 76” actual.
And a Rotax “C” gearbox 2.62:1 ratio

The problem is that I only have adequate clearance for a 68” prop (with 8” ground clearance)

I wish to maintain the STOL performance of the aircraft at all cost !

Is there a prop solution ? Or is a change of gearbox/ratio required ?

Is there a way to calculate the best prop section/pitch/diameter for this aircraft ?

What would be the optimum gearbox ratio if a change is neccessary ?

Thanks again,

Steve

And you must have plenty of it! $$$$ that is...

P-Tip must make an EXCEPTIONAL prop !!, It's 2-3 times as expensive as anybody else!

Thanks for the thought tho!

S
